Hamilton Outdoor Learning and Greening Project

Hamilton TK-8 Green Schoolyard is a collaborative project led by Carducci Associates, Sustainable Marin Schools, and local community partners to transform an underused ball field into a hands-on, environmentally focused outdoor learning space. Designed to reflect principles of stewardship, reuse, and community participation, the project incorporates native plantings, pollinator habitat, gathering spaces, and natural play features that connect students with the outdoors.

The design emphasizes simplicity, sustainability, and volunteer participation, using salvaged materials and cost-conscious strategies so much of the landscape can be built by community volunteers. Concept drawings and phased planning help guide fundraising and construction, ensuring the project is both achievable and durable.

Through this effort, the Hamilton TK-8 Schoolyard will become a welcoming landscape that supports environmental education, community engagement, and shared responsibility for the natural environment.
