In 2000, Vince Lattanzio founded the Neighborhood Alliance Group (NAG) in Bel Marin Keys, uniting eight residents committed to preserving the local environment. Their advocacy secured funding for nature-based enhancements, leading to Vince's election to the community service district board. Collaborating with experts, they completed over 110 projects focused on climate adaptation and restoration. Efforts included watershed revitalization and water quality improvements, employing aeration systems and natural enzymes to manage algae blooms. Community education emphasized the "4 R's" strategy - sediment removal, relocation, restoration, and recreational education - as alternatives to dredging, thereby working in harmony with nature. With renewed funding efforts in 2022, a new NAG formed, driving further progress through grassroots advocacy, resulting in the passage of a new tax measure with 80% support.
