Redwood City Center
City Center is a mixed-use private development on public property with
multi-family and affordable housing located on a podium with parking and ground floor retail
below. As a major component of the downtown revitalization effort, City Center brings housing
into the downtown where previously none existed. This housing development activated the street
with retail and services. City Center is adjacent to Redwood City Hall and is linked by a public
plaza designed as a part of this development. The public plaza provides opportunities for summer
events such as jazz concerts and art shows. An art paseo, on an axis with Redwood City Hall,
further strengthens the link to the mixed-use development and provides additional public space.
Interior courtyards, which provide a human scale to the development, allow light into the units
and provide passive and active outdoor opportunities for residents, such as shaded seating and a
playground. A community center and child care facility are also located within the development.
