Burgess Park
Carducci & Associates prepared a master plan for Burgess Park, located in Menlo Park, California.
Three different options were prepared based on program elements and cost estimates. The site plan shown illustrates Option 2.
A new Child Care Facility with outside fenced play lawn and play structures is planned. The renovated Community Center will include an expanded exterior patio
area, an outside amphitheater, gardens, and play structures. Surrounding site improvements include a sacred mound, an interactive fountain, lighted tennis courts,
and a skate park.
Alma Street, on the southern border of the park site, will be closed to accommodate a new bike path. The entire site is very pedestrian-
and bike-friendly, with many curvilinear circulation paths and ample bicycle parking. The renovated Fitness / Aquatic Center will feature a new lap pool and a new
activity pool. The athletic green will be reconfigured to include two Little League softball fields and a soccer field, regraded to facilitate good drainage, and with a
new irrigation system installed. A new Theater Building with parking and drop-off area is planned. Throughout the site heritage oaks are preserved or relocated.
